2nd – Dua When Leaving Home

بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

Bismillaahi, tawakkaltu alallaahi, wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata ‘ illaa billaah.

Meaning: In the Name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah, there is no might and no power except by Allah.

When leaving the house for any reason, it is recommended to recite this dua. It will protect you from all evil and harm.

Dua when leaving home:

“In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah. There is no power or might except by Allah’s leave. O Allah! I seek Your protection from the evil of my own self, from the evil of every soul that wishes me harm, from the plots of every enemy who seeks to destroy me.

O Allah! Grant me Your protection and keep me safe from all that causes Your anger or displeasure.

O Allah! Make Your protection complete for me and make me safe from all that You have prohibited. O Allah!

I take refuge in You from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from being overpowered by debt and afflicted with worries and sorrows.

When leaving home for work, school, or any other destination, Muslims recite a special duāʾ (supplication). This is done as a way of ensuring that Allah (God) is with them and will protect them during their journey.

The following is the Arabic text and English translation of the dua when leaving home:

“In the name of God, most Gracious, most Merciful. O God, I take refuge in You from the evil within me and from the evil of those who would do me harm. I take refuge in You from the trials and tribulations of this world.

I take refuge in You from the torment of Hellfire. O God, grant me Your protection and guide me on the straight path. Amen.
